Have you chipped in?

I know what you're thinking: What in the blazes does oatmeal have to do with this week's Photo Hunters theme, chipped? We don't eat oatmeal with chocolate chips. Jammy's in the background, but I'm not even showing a photo of the tooth he chipped when he was 2.

I know I'm stretching things a bit, but I wanted to highlight a great cause sponsored by Quaker Oats and Share Our Strength to combat childhood hunger in America. It's so easy for anyone and everyone to CHIP in (there, see, I did get the theme in):

1) Go to the Quaker Oats Facebook page.
2) Enter the UPC (barcode) from your favorite Quaker hot cereal.
3) For each barcode you enter, Quaker will donate a bowl of oatmeal to the hungry.

Actually, you don't even need to buy Quaker oats to chip in. Or like oatmeal. Or even know what oatmeal is. No, you don't need to make up a bogus UPC and see if they accept it. You can enter 030000013809 as a valid UPC (that's 5 zeros between the 3 and the 1, in case you don't want to count). How easy is that?

While you're there, you also get to see all the wacky Quaker Man photos people have posted. Make sure you look for the ones I posted of 3Po and Jammy because they're the best ones, of course.

That is a very good cause and I will head over and enter some codes (I have a lot of Quaker oatmeal stuff around my house right now). Very sneaky how you got the chip theme in :)

Mine is up over at Flo's Place

What a great suggestion!

The containers make me sigh...

Here in Canada, though I have called the company to urge them to sell it here like that, they only sell them in paper or plastic bags.

I lived in New York City for a while and got the oatmeal in the tubes, reusing them for holding my knitting needles. I also punched a hole in the lid and put my balls of wool in them, feeding the yarn up through the hole so I could knit without the wool getting tangled. They are so useful.

PS... I also posted my photo
