Green Tea Ice Cream: all you need to know about McDonald's Hong Kong

McDonald's Hong Kong had quite a few additions to the menu beyond the usual burgers, fries, and nuggets, like chicken wings, chili chicken burgers, and side dishes like sweet corn.  Even if you don't eat a full meal there, it's worth seeking out a McDonald's in Hong Kong just for one item: GREEN TEA SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM. Check out the yummy local menu items below (or just scroll to the end for drool-worthy photos of the ice cream):

Their McCafe section sells macarons, just like in McDonald's France!

McCafe also sells toasted sandwiches. I guess corn must be popular in Hong Kong because they offer a Corn & Cheese Champignon Toastie as well as a Bacon, Macaroni & Cheese Toastie. We tried both, and they were delicious.

The Cheesy Champignon Angus Burger from their Signature Collection is seriously the best McDonald's burger I've ever tasted! It could easily rival a burger from Shake Shack, Smashburger, or In-N-Out.

And because the real thing rarely looks like the photo on the promotional poster, here is a photo of the real thing:

This caramel sundae with Oreos and a KitKat bar was divine. It reminded me of one that we had in McDonald's UK (or was it France?).

Taro pie is on the menu in addition to apple pie. I bought one to try, but none of us really liked it much.

Quite possibly the best item on the menu for me (aside from that Angus burger!) was.... get ready for it..... you know what's coming next....

Yes, that's right. GREEN TEA SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM. In a variety of glorious forms.

I love green tea ice cream, so this was a revelation.  It's not available at all branches, so if the first one you enter doesn't have it, be patient. You'll eventually be rewarded.
