I have to hand it to architect Mary Colter. She could have fooled me. I'm no expert, just an awestruck tourist, so it may not take much to fool me. But apparently Mary Coulter made a huge effort to give the tower an ancient look, down to choosing every single stone.
Authentic or not, the result is beautiful.
Here's a chap dressed up as a bird. Don't ask me what that contraption is underneath his tail feathers because I don't want to know.
For more birds visit the Photo Hunt. And don't forget to leave your links below so I can visit your blog!

Great take on the theme! :D
A really interesting take on this week’s theme.
Happy weekend
Love the paintings on the wall.
To my eyes, the guy in the bottom photo looks like he's flying -- and the stuff at the bottom looks like some kind of missiles threatening to hit him! ;D
if you didn't say this place was built in the 30's, i would think this is a remnant of an ancient civilization.:p
great shots!
I don't think I want to know what that thing is, either, though it's awfully house like. Protector of civilization?
What a wonderful place and a great idea for the theme. Happy weekend.
Very cool take on the theme! Many cultures use birds as symbols, so this was very appropriate. Thanks for visiting me, and have a great weekend!
Awesome shots! My son, husband, and I went there this summer during one of the free weekends that the National Parks was hosting, and as soon as I saw your pictures, my mind went right back. Such an amazing place!
those are wonderful shots and i love your different takeon the theme.
Brilliant. It certainly looks old and the Native american style art is wonderful. Happy weekend
