Photo Hunters: Plastic

Twice a year I do a major sweep of the kids' toys, weed out those that have been outgrown, and sell them on Craigslist or our local parents' and twins' club email lists. Here is part of last year's crop. Good toys, like the Fisher Price Chatter Phone and and Little People playsets, all of them full of sweet memories of my babies growing and developing. I look at this photo now and the wistful, sentimental (pack-rat) part of me wishes we had enough space to keep them for my grandkids!

Nice collection of toys here - I'm sure that they are being enjoyed by many new owners.

I've missed stopping by on Thursdays.

Great choice for The Hunt.

A lovely response to the theme. Memories of childhood come flooding back when you see children's toys. I still have toys from my childhood.

Lovely toys. I too was tempted to keep my sons' toys for grandchildren, but a) I'd be waiting too long - still am! and 2) We've moved too often.

Great picture and post!

We have been slowly getting rid of toys now that Moe is getting bigger. We recently got rid of most of the LP playsets.

I wish I were as sentimental as you about keeping the toys. We too weed out the old to make room for the new two-three times a year but by the time I get around to it, I lose all attachment and just want them OUT. My neighbor sells hers too. I donate to the Catholic charities. Not so much out of benevolence but because I want them OUT. (OK, and out of benevolence too, I guess.)lol

Thanks for sharing this sweet picture!

Those are wonderful toys. My son's toys are accumulating too. I wish I had a lot of space to keep them. I have given a few already that he has outgrown but I have kept majority of them. I rotate the use of his toys so he won't get tired playing with them.

What a great way to retrieve some of the cost for some over priced toys. Great photo and have a good weekend.

I was just thinking the same thing: I would love to keep things for grandkids. Alas, I will have to pick a few and give the rest away!

Ah yes even though both my kids are now teenagers, I still have a pile plastic toys from their younger years!! Enjoy your weekend.

We've been able to save a few -- I get sentimental, too, looking at my kids' toys.

We "weed" about twice a year. I use the event to teach the boys about the importance of helping those in need. We take unused, neglected toys and we take them to St. Vincent or the like. We talk about how it is important to share our toys with kids that might not have any. This really hits home wiht the boys ans neither of them can imagine life without toys.
