Las Vegas with my sisters

On November 4, Alfie and I celebrated 15 years of marriage. It's hard to believe that it has been 15 years since Elvis married us in Las Vegas!  And how did we celebrate this milestone? With a trip to Vegas, of course!

The only thing was, I didn't take that trip to Vegas with Alfie. I took it with my sisters. One of them lives in Manila and the other lives in London, so we don't get to do this kind of thing very often. In fact, the last time we had a sisters' getaway was about 10 years ago. I can (and do) party in Vegas with Alfie whenever I want. But Vegas with my sisters? That's a once-every-ten-years thing. Fortunately Alfie understood completely, so the day after our anniversary, my sisters and I made our getaway.

The very first time I visited Las Vegas, my sister Tin was my travel companion (my sister Ris was still in high school in Manila at the time, so she couldn't come with us). We had no money, so we stayed at a motel off the strip and walked EVERYWHERE. We ate at cheap buffets. We limited our gambling to a dollar at the slot machines. All we did was walk, tour lobbies, and watch free or cheap shows. We visited some time in the mid-90's. The Strip looked completely different. The Bellagio and Venetian had not yet been built. The Sahara still had a roller coaster going through its building.

How times have changed! This time, we rented a car. Our buffets were slightly more upscale (try the truffle scalloped potatoes at the Bachanal Buffet at Caesar's!).

We stayed at the Four Seasons.

We had front-and-center seats at Cirque du Soleil (Zarkana).

We got on the VIP list to one of the hottest clubs on the Strip (Light).

Of course, some things never change.

We still toured lobbies.

We still kept our gambling budget to $1.

We still walked EVERYWHERE. And we just like on our first visit, we had a GREAT time.
