I used a box of this classic cake mix last night to make some mini dessert cakes for my sons' preschool auction. I love using cake mixes and
doctoring them up to look and taste better. They make it so much easier to whip up something yummy, like this Apple Crisp (recipe from
cdkitchen):
Apple Crisp
5 Granny Smith apples
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 box white cake mix
4 tablespoons butter
Peel and slice the apples and place in a baking dish. Mix cinnamon, sugar and
cake mix; sprinkle over the apples. Slice butter and cover mixture evenly with the butter. Bake in 375F oven until bubbly and apples are tender, about 1/2 hour.

Nice choice for this week's theme. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great classic--I use cake mix a lot as well. Best chocolate chip cookies ever:
ReplyDelete1 marble cake mix
1/4 cup oil
1 Tbs water (for the yellow complete mix) and 3 TBs (when you make the chocolate)
1 egg
Chocolate chips
Add all ingredients except the chocolate--including chocolate chips. Mix then take a quarter of mix out and add chocolate mix and 3 TBS water to it. Gentle marble the yellow and chocolate together, make into cookies on cookie sheet, bake at 325 degrees F for 8 minutes. Really, everyone agrees : best marble chocolate chip cookies ever. :) Plus they are VERY easy to make.
